“When I was a teen I realized girls didn’t have the same opportunities as boys – it crushed me,” shares Professional Surfer and equal pay advocate Bianca Valenti. By the age of fourteen, many girls are dropping out of sports at two times the rate of boys. The reasons vary but the bottom line is that girls do not have the same opportunities as boys on and off the field. At the highest levels of sport, these same issues persist.
At the 2020 Embrace Ambition Summit four professional athletes and leaders in sport A.J. Andrews, Bianca Valenti, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, and ESPN Sportscenter anchor Cari Champion took the stage to talk equal pay and recognition for women.
