MiChaela Barker is the founder and CEO of Matcha Scrubs, a protective hairwear, apparel, and lifestyle brand creating inclusive products for all hair types and textures. The idea began with her mother, an OB-GYN, whose scrub caps did not fully protect her hair or reflect her personality. MiChaela saw a widespread problem: traditional scrub caps often forced people to choose between hair protection, comfort, function, and personal style. Drawing on her background in public health and business, she collected more than 100 head and hair measurements to develop patent-pending, satin-lined designs proving that comfort, culture, function, and fashion can work alongside one another. Since launching Matcha Scrubs on Juneteenth 2025, MiChaela has shipped products to more than 30 states, partnered with hospitals, and earned national recognition for her inclusive approach to healthcare apparel. She holds an MBA and MPH from Yale University and was selected as a 2026 Tory Burch Foundation Fellow. MiChaela is expanding Matcha Scrubs into scrubs, loungewear, and products for work, wellness, and everyday life. Her belief is simple: even the most functional spaces deserve personality, confidence, and a little luxury.
