A retired U.S. Army Colonel with nearly three decades of leadership and Product Management experience, Laverne built NVLX Labs while serving on active duty, bringing the same discipline, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to service that shaped her military career into entrepreneurship.

Her journey began with a simple observation: consumers with locs were often overlooked by the broader beauty industry and deserved products created specifically with their hair, routines, and experiences in mind. Today, NVLX Labs is building a modern, science-informed approach to loc care rooted in efficacy, education, and elevated beauty. Laverne is also a certified loc consultant and trichology analyst, and her expertise has been recognized by outlets including Forbes, Vogue, Essence, and others. As a 2026 Tory Burch Fellow, she is focused on scaling NVLX Labs into a category-defining beauty brand.
