Golden Bricks Events is a cultural design and experience agency geared toward the outdoors and conservation helping land trusts, parks agencies, conservation groups, hospitality and outdoor brands build authentic connection with communities of color. GBE designs strategy, community engagement programming, and gatherings, from partner convenings to full event architecture, so organizations move beyond one-off outreach into lasting relationships. Work spans strategic consulting, community-informed program design, and hands-on event production for partners who want their spaces to genuinely reflect the people they serve. GBE exists because the outdoors should feel like home to everyone. Refuge Outdoor Festival was selected by Outside Magazine for their best outdoor festivals list.

Chevon Powell is a native Texan, backpacker, camper, and self-proclaimed napper with 25 years in events. In 2018, while on a solo backpacking trip in Vermont, she was stopped by law enforcement and told her reason for being there was "unbelievable." That moment named a problem she already knew firsthand: who gets to move freely outdoors, and who doesn't. She founded Golden Bricks Events (GBE) and its flagship gathering, Refuge Outdoor Festival, to build outdoor spaces centered on emotional and physical safety, accessibility, connection, joy, and belonging for Black, Indigenous, and people of color. Over eight years, Refuge and GBE's other gatherings have reached more than 16,000 attendees. Chevon leads GBE the way she leads community: showing up, listening first, and building what people actually ask for. Named a 2024 Tory Burch Foundation Fellow, she's now growing GBE from festival production into a cultural design and experience agency, doing the same work at a bigger scale.
